Echinacea (Echinacea Purpurea) are herbaceous, drought-tolerant perennial plants growing up to 140 cm or 4 feet, in height. They grow from taproots.
Idoor: Sow thinly in a lightweight soil mix. Cover twice seeds thickness with soil. Press firmly and water. Keep evenly moist but not soggy. As seedlings appear, gradually expose them to light. When large enough to handle, transplant to pots. Harden by gradual exposure to outdoor conditions. After spring frosts transplant to garden 30-90cm (12-36in) apart.
Outdoor:After spring frosts sow thinly to garden 30-90cm (12-36in) apart. Cover 3 times thier diameter with soil. Thin to 20-50cm (8-20in) apart.
